A well-crafted family comedy about a fuzzy space alien who crash lands into the lives of the Tanner family, Alf Season Two spoons up a second serving of 26 episodes as deliciously witty as the first. The diminutive, sardonic Alien Life Form from planet Melmac (voiced by Paul Fusco) becomes an integral (and unabashed) part of the Tanner family in the sitcom's second season of its four-year run (1986-1990), with many of the storylines maximizing Alf's impish onstage chemistry with Willie (Max Wright). Alf is more outspoken this year and viewers will relish the nostalgic romps through his Alien Relocation Program, Melmacian hiccups, and brief stint in a monastery. Alf hosts the David Letterman show, rides the rails with "Boxcar Willie," recites his own rendition of "Born Free," and protests his house arrest on "Alfcatraz." The storylines continue to be fresh thanks to a team of seasoned writers, several of whom are new to the show this season. Alf remains a gem in the '80s lineup of family sitcoms by striking a near-perfect chord between kid-friendly kitsch and subtle adult humor. Alf never stoops to vulgarity; rather, the program remains a wacky, eclectic view of humanity through the eyes of an alien—who takes neither life form very seriously. Don't miss the program's highlight, "Ballad of Gilligan's Island," when Alf builds a lagoon in his backyard, morphs to Gilligan's Island, and gets a reality check on the definition of "fun," with cameos by the renowned cast of Bob Denver, Alan Hale, Russell Johnson, and Dawn Wells. The four-disc set includes two animated episodes. (All ages) --Lynn Gibson

Good TV series. Horrible DVD!!
The Alf Series is one of the best on TV and releasing butchered episodes of the show should be a crime. I bought the whole series UNCUT taped from TV in their first run 4 years ago on eBay and I am sticking with those.
In case you do decide to buy this I have episode Synopses like I did last year for Season 1 They were not on the DVD in airdate order last year and are probably not this year either

Wedding Bell Blues
Alf joins a monastery when he lears that he was born in wedlock which is bad in his culture. The monks are not too happy with the fact that he talks a lot.
Prime Time
When Alf's favorite show, Polka Jamboree, is in danger of cancellation, he rigs the TV ratings to make it #1
Some Enchanted Evening
ALF shows up at Halloween costume party hosted by Willie and Kate as himself. While they are upset, the guests love him.
Pretty Woman

Alf's Christmas special
The Tanner family spend Christmas in a mountain cabin owned by a family friend. Alf gets lost and ends up in the children's ward of a local hospital. He disguises himself as a stuffed toy by remining motionless. He later befriends a terminally ill girl when they are alone and he helps her cope with the fact that she is dying and convinces Willie's friend not to commit suicide in a manner that parallels "It's a wonderful life" (Despite it's secular presentation of Christmas, This episode brought tears to my eyes)
The Boy Next Door
The Ochmonek's nephew, Jake, comes to live with them and becomes friends with Alf.
Can I Get a Witness
Alf is accused of breaking the Ochmonek's window with a football and convinces them to give him a trial. After a guilty verdict, the real culprit confesses.
We're so Sorry Uncle Albert
Willie's cranky uncle comes for a visit but they are all surprised by how nice he is. He says he is trying to make amends but when he sees Alf, he has a heart attack and dies.

Tequilla
Kate's alcoholic friend stays with the family for the night and when she meets Alf at 2AM while she is on her binge, she thinks he is her imaginary drinking buddy she sees when she is drunk. Alf convinces her to go to a clinic.
We Are Family
Alf dreams that he reveals himself to the world and wins a sopt on the David Letterman show.
Varsity Drag
Alf gets 10 paper routes to earn enough money so the family can afford to send Lynn to college
Cut to Shreds!
These are syndicated cut to shreds versions of a classic show. Worse than the first syndicated cuts that were broadcast. Entire scenes cut where Alf sings songs that the cheapo Lions Gate may have to pay rights for. This is what keeps video pirates in business.
ALF Gets Butchered Again
I have been a fan of ALF from the start. ALF desserves a lot more respect than what he is getting from Lion's Gate. The excuse they give about the original air masters just does not wash considering the quality of the episodes presented on the DVD release of The Alf Files by another company that used the air masters.
Other TV shows from earlier times are being released in their complete forms. Why can't Lion's Gate do the same?
I will not buy this set and urge others to do the same and maybe, just maybe, Lion's Gate will get the message.
