This classic 1964 television special featuring Rudolph and his misfit buddies set the standard for stop-motion animation for an entire generation before Tim Burton darkly reinvented it in the early 1990s. Burl Ives narrates as Sam the Snowman, telling and singing the story of a rejected reindeer who overcomes prejudice and saves Christmas one particularly blustery year. Along the way, he meets an abundance of unforgettable characters: his dentally obsessed elf pal Hermey; the affable miner Yukon Cornelius and his motley crew of puppies; the scary/adorable Abominable Snow Monster; a legion of abandoned, but still chatty, toys; and a rather grouchy Santa. In addition to the title song that inspired it, this 53-minute tape is crammed with catchy tunes such as "Silver and Gold" and "Holly Jolly Christmas." Why? Sony. Why?
For 2 years in a row Sony once again puts that stupid Destiny's Child crap on this Dvd. Why does Sony keep ruining Christmas classics like this and now Santa Claus Is Comin' To Town with a stupid Mariah Carey video. When is this dumb so-called trend going to stop. Leave the Christmas classics(Rudolf,Frosty,Santa Claus Is Comin' To Town)as is.Please, NO MORE EXTRA SONGS & VIDEOS...these are not good extras they are just pure crap!!!

Rudy what have they done!
The DVD transfer is pretty good but the scene with Yukon discovering peppermint has been cut.

It seems pretty odd to sell a DVD as a restored classic only to leave out the main thing that was to be restored!

I would give it a five if this music video wasn't there.
Come on! Nobody who watches this cares about Destiny's Child music!!! If you wanna have them mess up a "Christmas" movie, make them sing a 20 minute video in Frosty Returns. I'm not buyin' if this dvd has 'em playin'!
