Product Description
This special edition 25th Anniversary edition of THE GRADUATE was released in 1992 and features interviews with members of the original cast and creators. The interviews and the original theatrical trailer precede the film which has been digitally restored for this release. Few films have defined a generation as THE GRADUATE did. The alienation, the nonconformity, the intergenerational romance, the blissful Simon and Garfunkel soundtrack--they all served to lob a cultural grenade smack into the middle of 1967 America, ultimately making the film the third most profitable up to that time. Seen from a later perspective, its radical chicness has dimmed a bit, yet it's still a joy to see Dustin Hoffman's bemused Benjamin and Anne Bancroft's deliciously decadent, sardonic Mrs. Robinson. The script by Buck Henry and Calder Willingham is still offbeat and dryly funny, and Mike Nichols, who won an Oscar for his direction, has just the right, light touch. THE GRADUATE remains one of the most important motion pictures in cinema history. It compels the audience powerfully and refuses to let go during many classic scenes.
It tells the brilliant story of Ben Braddock (Dustin Hoffman) a graduate from college who worries about his future. One night, he is seduced by the older Mrs Robinson (Anne Bancroft,) and he begins an affair with her. However, he soon falls in love with her daughter, and his life turns upside-down.
THE GRADUATE displays powerful performances from its cast, a witty script, great direction, a ground-breaking score and interesting photography.
