Customer Reviews
A great CD!!!!!
Bob Marley songs with Bossa Nova flavours, what a great idea. This is a great compilation, don?t belive old fashion fans reviews.
FIVE STARS.
Nice... very nice...
I really loved Bossa N' Stones, and I really enjoyed this version of Bob Marley's greatest hits. Comparisons between the original songs and these ones are pointless. Great work!
Nice But Bob Marley Leaves Little Room for Interpretations
Their bossa nova CD re-interpretations of Rolling Stones classics was brilliant and fun. The Stones actually made sense since their songs are all sexy, and no other rock 'n roll band could rightly remake them without sounding a weak imitation but re-making Bob Marley classics as light jazz/bossa nova tracks really doesn't work unless you have NEVER HEARD the Bob Marley versions.
Part of the problem is that trading reggae beats for soft bossa nova beats just sound makes these songs sound weak. The other problem is that Bob Marley wrote songs of protest, of inequity or some forgotten in-justice. When you know that BUFFALO SOLDIER is about the African American soldiers of the Old West and all the hardships and injustices they faced ... having a sexy cooing version of BUFFALO SOLDIER done softly diminishes not just the memory of the solidiers but also Bob Marley.
They could continue these series but sticking to the rough and tumble of boys & girls and rock 'n roll work much better.
If you love Bob Marley, you'll feel tainted listening to this CD.
If you like Bob Marley, you'll just feel these are really, really weak versions of his classic tracks.
If you have NEVER heard of any Bob Marley tracks or for some reason, reggae sounds too harsh to you - you might enjoy this bossa nova soft jazz versions that play fine as background music.
So, you have been warned :-)
