Works alot better than my older Zircon!5
Some great things about this stud finder is that it warns you of a live a/c wire, if you are left or right of the stud, a deep scan mode, a regular scan mode, plus a red light that emits a straight red line against the wall when you are in the exact center of the stud. It sure works alot better than my other Zircon stud finder I purchased around 10 years ago.

Good, but surprising limits and use4
On simple, fairly smooth, walls it works well enough. Identifying the center of studs is very helpful. I was surprised by several things though. The pkg implies the deep sensing mode for thick walls occurs automatically - it doesn't. You must double-click the on/off button until the "stud" sensor flashes - it messed me up until I read the manual. The unit is worse than useless on interior walls that are insulated. I have a number of interior walls insulated for sound-deadening and the unit identified random spots as having studs. I never could get a read on any stud on an insulated wall. Lastly, I have heavily textured walls and a thin layer of cardboard is recommended between the wall and the Zircon for optimal reading (the manual says so). Now that I review these issues I can understand them, but I didn't anticipate them as problems before purchasing the i65.

Simply Works5
I bought an el-cheapo Stanley stud finder, and I couldn't even calibrate the thing. Never found anything. I guess you get what you pay for.

The Zircon i65 simply worked. It's very simple to use and is quite accurate.

My local Home Depot sells it for a few cents lower than Amazon.
