Kizzy has a son by her new master, and the boy grows up to become Chicken George, a legendary cock fighter who leads his family into freedom. Throughout the series, the family observes notable events in U.S. history, such as the Revolutionary and Civil Wars, slave uprisings, and emancipation. This series continues the story of Alex Haley's family line from the Post American Civil War era to Alex Haley's geneological search to discover his roots.

These videos are well done, powerful & painful. What an amazing story of one family, strong and steady in the face of daily struggle and loss.

Masterpiece and Must Have
I've recently found out this set will be released on DVD on October 9, 2007. I've wanted to order it, but I don't want the VHS. I prefer the DVD. I'm waiting for Amazon's pre-order.
