Redefines the word "witness"
ALPHA VIDEO's edition of EIGHT WITNESSES is a European/American made-for-TV spy thriller that features an international cast. In it, a man is murdered in front of eight people.
SYNOPSIS--
A scientist with knowledge of a "secret formula" wants to defect from the USSR-held area of Germany. After contacting and arranging to meet a British agent and fearing he's being stalked, the man flees to a library for the blind where his daughter works. He stashes the formula papers there and before he and the girl can leave, the scientist is indeed killed. This act occurs in front of several blind people. The rest of the film is a quest for the murderer and those all-important papers.
ALPHA VIDEO is a provider of vintage movies, serials and TV programs, many of which aren't available elsewhere. Their prices are fair, but so is transfer quality of some of their offerings. None have undergone restoration, yet this product's rareness and an honest price make it a worthwhile purchase.
Also from ALPHA:
In MIDNIGHT PHANTOM (1935), a newly-hired police chief who plans to clean up his corrupt department is killed, and most of the supects are fellow cops!
Parenthetical number preceding title is a 1 to 10 viewer poll rating found at a film resource website.
