Customer Reviews
What a waste of money...
Just until today, this product had been wonderful. Actually, I just deleted my old five-star review in order to write this one instead.
What happened? well, basically it got stuck. It wouldn't spin anymore for no apparent reason and I couldn't get my CD/DVDs out. Nice...
This wasn't the first time it got stuck but all the previous times the culprit was a CD halfway in through the opening.
But today there was nothing preventing the unit from rotating yet it won't spin. It will only make some awful noise. I tried shaking it a little bit, still no luck.
In the end I had to disassemble the unit getting several of my CD/DVDs scratched in the process and two of my fingers hurt.
I regret having wasted my money and time with this product. Stay away from it for your own good.
Good While it Lasted
Like another reviewer mentioned, this product is great until it breaks. I was running it on Win 7 for about two weeks and suddenly it just stopped functioning. I understand the company has folded and support is seemingly nonexistent. I would spend a little extra and go with a product that is well supported. I'm very disappointed in this machine.
Surprisingly useful
On the purchase of my second unit (shared USB and power supply) I managed to convince myself to ditch all the old cases - what a relief.
In common with advice from other reviewers it is almost an imperative to dismantle the units and lubricate (silicon spray in my instance) I managed it with both full and empty carousels (no difference) This transformed the units
one was a DOA (carousel overtightened) and the other was so noisy as to drown out the noise from my PC (which brings back the fond memories of Concorde taking off and passing overhead)
Remember to note the passwords onto the cds/dvds and delight with the appearance of the item at the press of a button and a twirl
The supplier was very prompt and helpful clearing up some confusion I had and shipped it from the US to the UK via UPS
