Customer Reviews
sophisticated overall jazz feel
This is a great CD. Each performance has quality song writing, musical voicings and performances. The selections are varied, but related in style and 'energy' so there is great flow.
It is not like some albums which just sample other records and artists, the songs sound Fresh and original. It is also not like 'trance' which repeats one sound/bar/phrase ad nauseum. The selections are varied, but related in style and 'energy' so there is great flow.
Overall, the selections have a sophisticated smooth, brazillian or NY jazz feel. Lots of talent on this CD!
I enjoy this music while walking, working on the computer, doing light chores with my headphones on, or just listening. Great Brunch music on a Sunday morning too!
A PERFECT RENDEZVOUS
I bought a copy of this cd after hearing some of it on the "Chill With Chris Botti" radio show. I spend a lot of money on "Chill" music and am not always pleased. This cd is totally in the pocket! I can put my cd player on "Shuffle" without worrying about hearing something ugly in the process. Hats off to Mark Gorbulew and the Rendezvous record label.
"Elegant and Sensuous...Superb"
"ELEGANT and SENSUOUS in the tradition of BUDDHA BAR, CAFE DEL MAR and HOTEL COSTES. SUPERB!" says a blurb by DJ Rafe Gomez, host of the popular syndicated radio show "GROOVE BOUTIQUE," on the cover of the album I got.
I definitely agree with him, however Rendezvous Lounge 2 has its own distinct vibe.
This is the second Rendezvous Lounge CD in the series and it is a natural extension musically of the first; and it has again gone beyond compiling the "usual suspects" one usually finds in the chill/lounge genre.
It's a smooth groove but not "smooth jazz;" it take you way beyond that.
The music is subtle but not repetitious; in fact it only gets better with each listen.
The album has a wonderful flow. If you want to put it on as background music, thats fine; but if you want to listen closely with headphones you will be surprised and amazed at the musical nuances you hear!
There are many music genres at work here -electronica, world, jazz, funk, lounge, chill-and from a wide global selection of live musicians hailing from the United States, France, Italy, England, Holland, Germany, Iran, Bulgaria, Brazil, and India.
All in all, this is an eclectic mix of quality downtempo music!
