Editorial Reviews

It's not as though Raffi's music is overly rockin' to begin with, but this collection of sleepy retreads specifically designed for use during "a pause, a cuddle, or a nap" isn't completely without warrant--nobody wants a bananaphone ringing when the Play-Doh's finally stowed and the Sandman's been called in, after all. Even during wide-awake time, few discs are as overall electric-blanket cozy. "Twinkle Twinkle" does, in fact, take on diamond-like qualities in Raffi's capable hands, and "Row, Row, Row" travels more gently than usual down the stream. The originals pack a powerful plush fleeciness, too--the Japanese "Haru Ga Kita" crosses cultures in the kindliest, most whispery way possible, and "Blessed Be," a Raffi classic, is enough to make anybody want to drift off feeling flush with wholesomeness; call it the equivalent of a forehead-kiss and a tuck-in. Quiet, overall, is rarely so velvety. --Tammy La Gorce
Customer Reviews
Another Raffi classic must-have!
Our family are real Raffi lovers. There is something about his voice that is so pure and wholesome-sounding that he really appeals to kids, and we adults enjoy his music, too. I actually thought my children would be too old for this CD (Kalli, 8, and Mackie, 5), but as soon as I put it on they came in and asked me what it was. Before I heard it, I planned to give it to a neighbor when I was finished with the review, but even if I wanted to now (which I don't), Mackie won't part with it. She play sit on her new Hello, Kitty! portable CD player.
Raffi covers classic songs from everyone's childhood, like "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star," "Row, Row, Row" and "Rock-a-bye Baby" but also includes six original compositions. Kalli and my favorite, being part of an overseas family, is "Like Me and You" about children from countries all over the world. He also includes two songs in other languages: "Fais Do Do" (French) and "Haru Ga Kita" (Japanese). Mackie especially likes "Mary Wore Her Red Dress" ("Now, THAT's my favorite!" she says).
The melodies are soothing, perfect for naptime or just to calm the kids on a busy afternoon. Each one is different, unique, yet they meld together so well to create another classic Raffi collection. This one is a keeper and will provide our family with relaxing music for years to come.
It Works!!!
My one year old has a severe case of the colic.
Night after night after night of endless crying.
Totally Sleep deprived - both of us.
I got the Quiet Time cd, and put it on.
Within 10 minutes Jessie and I were sound asleep.
It works, and has been working for over a week now!
Thank you!
A lifesaver!
If you are a parent who has trouble getting your baby or child
to go to sleep, this album is right for you. This CD features
sedating versions of classic melodies as well as tunes with the
special Raffi touch. One of the songs on this album is "Row Row Row" which is not a song that Raffi sings, so there is a little
weirdness to this album. Raffi's albums can even be used in
intensive care units to calm listeners and promote healing from
traumatic injuries or life threatening operations. Raffi is
renowned for his work with infants and medically fragile people.
So this CD is the one for everyone.
