Editorial Reviews

From the Manufacturer
There are lots of cable manufacturers. There’s only one AudioQuest.

AudioQuest designs cables based on performance, not on abstract theory. That means they design based on the ultimate test of performance – how it sounds to the human ear and looks to the human eye. AudioQuest crafts cables for those who seek not just a connection, but truly superior audio and video performance, with less distortion, the clearest images and the truest possible sound at all times, and on all home electronic equipment.

HDMI (high definition media interface) cables represent a big leap forward in connecting audio and video equipment. HDMI supports standard, enhanced, or high-definition video, plus multi-channel digital audio on a single cable. HDMI greatly simplifies connection challenges by allowing a single interconnect for high definition digital audio and video signals instead of the tangle of wires and cables behind the entertainment center in the average home. HDMI allows these signals to all travel, uncompressed, through that single cable. The lack of compression means the signals can travel as they are originally produced, with no conversion that could distort and lessen the quality of the video image or sound. So pictures are smoother and cleaner, sound is crisper and true. And you save money when you only have to buy one cable!

Do you want to avoid pixellation during the winning touchdown of the Super Bowl or that gold-medal winning basket during the Olympics? Make sure you’ve got a cable that lives up to your equipment. That great plasma TV is not going to get a clear signal if it’s got to go through cable that introduces distortion through inferior quality metal or cheap stranded cable. AudioQuest HDMI cables, like all AudioQuest audio and video cables, optimize the technology of the cable to deliver noticeably better sound and image quality.

For HDMI-enabled video equipment, AudioQuest offers four levels of high performance HDMI cables. All AudioQuest HDMI cables are solid core, not stranded, with a solid metal central conductor instead of potentially unstable bundles of fine stranded wires. All employ critical twist geometry, and use copper or silver as a conductor. All levels deliver excellent quality performance in both digital audio and video, but as you step up, distortion will be reduced to an even greater degree. The bigger your screen size, the more vulnerable your performance will be. Think better cables for bigger displays. Also, the farther your screen is from the source, the more vulnerable your image will be degradation--especially with HDMI. So again, think better cables for longer distances. And finally, if you are at the top of the resolution hill, don’t scrimp on the cable--remember, your cable lets you see the TV you paid for!

Choose the Cable That's Right For You

Value: HDMI A

AudioQuest HDMI-A uses large Conductive-Coated conductors. Solid High-Density Polyethylene is used to minimize loss caused by insulation, and to insure critical geometry stability. This HDMI-A cable has an HDMI connector on both ends. HDMI-A is also available also available with an HDMI connector on one end and a DVI-D connector on the other end.

HDMI-A is available in a braided jacket in lengths of 1M, 2M and 3M. HDMI-A is available in an off-white PVC CL-3 rated jacket in various lengths from 4.5m to 12M.
Good: HDMI X

AudioQuest HDMI-X uses large 1.25% silver conductors. Solid High-Density Polyethylene is used to minimize loss caused by insulation, and to insure critical geometry stability. An RF Stopper prevents interference problems.

HDMI-X is available in a braided jacket in lengths of 1M, 2M, 3M and 4.5M. HDMI-X is available in an off-white PVC CL-3 rated jacket in various lengths from 3m to 15M.
Better: HDMI 1

AudioQuest HDMI-1 uses large 2.5% silver conductors (twice the silver of normal silver-plate). Solid High-Density Polyethylene is used to minimize loss caused by insulation, and to insure critical geometry stability. Two RF Stoppers prevent interference problems.

What is an RF stopper? The built in ferrite stopper filters Radio Frequency Interference in both directions. It prevents outside interference from entering the equipment, and prevents equipment-generated interference (from all digital equipment and tuners) from reaching other equipment in the system. The ferrite acts like a high frequency resistor and dissipates the interference, so interference from the video circuitry in your satellite or cable box does not go to your surround sound receiver and TV.

HDMI-1 is available in a braided jacket in lengths of 1M, 2M, 3M and 4M. HDMI-1 is available in an off-white PVC CL-3 rated jacket in various lengths from 3m to 20M for in-wall use.
Best: HDMI 3

AudioQuest HDMI-3 uses large 6.1% silver conductors (almost five times the silver of normal silver-plate). Solid High-Density Polyethylene is used to minimize loss caused by insulation, and to insure critical geometry stability. Two RF Stoppers prevent interference problems.

HDMI-3 is available in a braided jacket in lengths of 1M, 2M, 3M and 4M. HDMI-3 is available in an off-white PVC CL-3 rated jacket in various lengths from 3m to 20M for in-wall use.

Way Overpriced1
HDMI is a digital signal, the data either gets to your TV or it doesn't. There is no reason on earth to pay $51 per foot for a cable. This is a huge ripoff.

The same thing goes for any other digital connections like DVI, digital coaxial audio, TOSLINK, etc. The data gets there or it doesn't. Figure out how long of a cable you need and buy the cheapest you can get.

unnecessary1
HDMI is digital. Any HDMI cable that works with your equipment delivers exactly the same video and audio quality. Buy one for $5.

this cable made an extreme improvement in picture clarity and detail.colors are much more vivid.i will definetily buy another when i purchase a blu-ray.
