A good air dry clay
This is a step up from the kid's clay and works well. You need to keep it damp while working with it. the while clay dries with a very nice pale grey color and porous finish. It holds enamel paint very well.

a little fun
bought this clay from meijer today for $4.00. opened it up and it smells like clay :) it is really moist and some residue will stick to your hands (as expected). it isn't hard to mold with, it is a more firm than playdoh. it started to dry pretty fast though. within 15 minutes it was already starting to get crumbly. the thick part of the piece I molded is taking forever to dry though. the pieces I had a chance to really rub over look okay, but most of it didn't get this chance and is all cracky, and it's really hard not to accidentally get more of it cracking.
