Editorial Reviews
From the back cover
Before there was Leno, or even Carson, television comedy began with Sid Caesar. Called comedic "royalty" (USA Today), Sid's Emmy-winning Your Show of Shows and Caesar's Hour invented "a hipper style of TV comedy that influenced everything up to and including Saturday Night Live" (TV Guide). Turn back the clock and join Sid for eight of his most memorable and remarkable sketches plus intros from one of the most impressive comedy-writer lineups television has ever known (including Mel Brooks and Woody Allen). Return to the golden age of comedy that shaped a half century of laughter with THE BEST OF SID CAESAR.
Featuring: The Commuters in "7 Dwarves Bet," the Professor in "Boardrooms of Hollywood," Five Dollar Date, Sid Plays Sax with Benny Goodman, The Clock, A Fella Needs a Girl, The Haircuts in "So Rare" and "Flippin'," This Is Your Story.
Customer Reviews
Live TV
This is a great DVD. The skits are from start to finish, not just a few seconds. When you see the list of writers from this show, you will be shocked. This was real TV, not reality TV.
Funny old time TV
This is a great show for the older people who remember those old Sid Caesar comedies and a blast for the younger generations of viewers. The satire of Ralph Edwards' "This is Your Life" was one of the funniest skits ever.
good ole comedy
This takes you back to real pure laugh out-loud comedy, performed by masters of comedy
