Halloween Adventures With Our Doggie Friends
"Clifford's Big Halloween" is a "Clifford the Big Red Dog" DVD release featuring eight stories about our favorite big red dog (R.I.P. John Ritter) and his doggie and human friends. This DVD includes stories from frightful to fun.
The first story on this DVD is "Boo," in which everyone watches a scary movie for Halloween. Jetta claims nothing scared her, but then gets scared when she sees a very large ghost. Now who might that be?
Other stories are "Leaf of Absence," "A New Dog in Town," "Not Now I'm Busy," "Clifford's Carnival," ":Come Back, Mac," "Dino Cliford" and "The Trouble With Kittens." Themes covered include taking responsibility, not giving up, not jumping to conclusions, helping others and much more.
All episodes are close-captioned, though the special features are not. The audio is Dolby Digital and includes a Spanish track. Special features include "Speckle Stories" seen in between stories of the show on TV and a pumpkin-carving game.
Good entertainment plus good lessons
This is the first Clifford video my daughter has rented from the library, and she adores it. We'll probably buy it soon.
She is just learning about Halloween at age 2 1/2, so she loved the episodes about a ghost and the fall festival. She also loved the episode where Mac feels guilty about ruining a sweater and runs away from home. Really, there were no episodes she didn't enjoy. I liked that it's not super fast-paced, loud, or annoying! We also love the Clifford books, so this ties in well with them.
I was pleasantly surprised! Reminds me a bit of Little Bear, in terms of the low-key noise levels and storylines that subtly teach a lesson. Enjoy!
Clifford the Big Red Dog: Clifford's Big Halloween
The DVD has 8 shorts on it. Only one has to do with Halloween so I'd say that the title is a bit misleading if you're looking for more than 10 minutes of Halloween theme (which I was for a kid's party). But, all episodes are very cute and my son asks to watch it every day.
