Gloria (Saunders), a wealthy, emotionally-troubled young woman, has just been released from the sanitarium into the care of her uncle. Though determined to make a fresh start, she is haunted by recurring visions of a man wielding an axe, which leave her feeling anxious and unsettled. While out for a horseback ride one day, she encounters Fred Wellman (Jagger); the man she would later marry. But the frightening visions are still there, growing more frequent, and now she is hearing things too: strange music which seems to permeate her house. It also does not help matters that the former owner of the estate died at the hands of an axe murderer. Nothing is what it seems, and her reality begins to unravel...
