Product Description

For the most demanding amateur astronomer, this premium telescope combines superb optical performance, rock solid stability, and precise, automatic object thousands more, the 120ED EQ-G is worth a look if you are serious about observing or photography. The 900mm focal length (f/7.5) is great for planetary and deep-sky work. ED glass is one of the two objective lens elements and multi-coating on all air-to-glass surface means light isn't marred by chromatic aberration, or color fringing. The Sirius mount has a CCD autoguider port, periodic error correction (PEC), latitude and azimuth adjustments for polar alignment, and an illuminated polar axis scope. Optional GoTo controller provides pushbutton access to 13,400+ objects. Comes with 2" mirror star diagonal that accepts 1.25" eyepieces, 25mm 1.25" Sirius Plossl eyepiece, and 8x40 finder. Requires a 12-volt DC power source or an AC adapter. One-year limited warranty.

Customer Reviews

Great performing 120mm Apochromatic Refractor 4
Unfortunately, this product appears to have been discontinued. I own the same Orion 120mm ED APO OTA installed on a comparable Celestron GoTo equatorial mount and am very satisfied with the overall performance. Good seeing astronomical views of the Moon and our largest planetary neighbors Jupiter and Saturn, are absolutely breathtaking.

Orion has replaced this older model telescope OTA with their "EON" series, of the same aperature, which has even better overall quality and workmanship, with more standard features, so I can't quite give this one five stars, but its still close just for the optical performance alone.

Amazon.com is a viable alternative for purchasing telescopes if only the free shipping policy applied. Orion's distribution center is based in Northern California, so for some the shipping charge on such bulky, heavy items as this is a big factor.
