Average customer review:Product Description
Louis McKay talks you through a beginning tap class consisting of a heart thumping tap warm-up to get those feet loose and fast followed by an energizing tap dance combination. As is his style, all is viewed in a "classroom" environment from behind the instructor in everyday, easy to understand language. The tap dance combination is taught step-by-step allowing the student to work at his or her own pace. The video is chaptered so that the student may review the entire film or just a portion at a time.

About the Actor
LOUIS A. MCKAY could best be described as the original Cinderella Man of dance. His story is one of how a young man with less than three formal dance lessons entered the world of show business and performed with entertainment's best, and was featured on television talk shows of the 1970's and 1980's including The Johnny Carson Show, The Mike Douglas Show, the John Davidson Show, and The Sonny and Cher Show. Louis, known for his unique jazz and tap choreography is recognized as an international award winning choreographer and master instructor. As the son of an opera tenor father and a Julliard trained vocalist mother, Louis began singing at the age of six years old in venues such as the San Diego Opera Company and the Starlight Theater located in San Diego, California. At the age of twenty he found himself in Hollywood chasing a dream. Within days of arriving in Hollywood, he had landed an agent with the second largest talent agency of the time, the Cunningham ! Agency, and was taking tap dance instruction at the famed Al Gilbert Tap Studio with one of tap's best, Pat Rico. He also had attracted the attention of one of Hollywood's legends, Debbie Reynolds.
Customer Reviews
BRAVO!!
This tap video is the best I've seen! It is extremely easy to follow whether you are a beginner or have had some tap instruction before. The instructor, Louis McKay, did an excellent job explaining each step, and moves you forward at a good pace until you are doing an entire dance at three different speeds. It was so much fun I didn't even notice I was exercising! I would highly recommend it for anyone, at any age.
A different style
I liked McKay's approach to teaching. It was very informative & easy to follow, even for people who have had previous training. I am an adult & have taken tap for 3 years now. As an accomplished jazz dancer & former latin ballroom champion I learned & was challenged from McKay's class. It did exactly what I had hoped it would. Because it was a different style than what I am accustomed to he got me moving in various directions with my tap steps as well as using my arms & body more freely. I will definetly purchase more from his collection.
Great follow up
This a great follow up to the tap notes series. There is a great class warm up, then the break down of the routine, which finishes practicing the whole thing at different tempos. It really helps you get the feel for how the steps go together in a dance. ANd the menu chapters are excellent, so it you can't do the video all at once you can go straight to where you left off.
