Customer Reviews
insightful
For any one curious on the history and the development of neuabeuten's sound this is a very good place to start, Filled with interviews with band members
past and present and people who worked with them including Stevo and Nick Cave. Worth getting for live footage including clips from the 80's as well as an bonus feature which includes the recording of songs from Silence is Sexy.
The interviews provide a few nuggets of informance, insights in to the bands personalities but it is the archieve live clips make it looking at.
Invaluable
The only thing I would add to this fascinating and invaluable historical document of the great Einsturzende Neubauten is length. And the relative brevity of this DVD( which seems to be a German television special ) doesn't give me cause to dock it from a perfect rating. It has live performances from many eras of this groundbreaking band, as well as interviews ( both old and new ) with past and present band members, and with key associates and peripheral people like Nick Cave. Watching the early, utterly chaotic live performances makes me wish I had been born about ten years earlier than I was. Even more incredible is that EN continue, over 20 years since their inception, to create challenging, emotional music. For fans, this is an absolute Must Have.
