Magnificent CD
Critics frequently compare guitarist Randy Napoleon to Wes Montgomery and Joe Pass. He takes the best from both, the lyric lift of Wes, the emotional range of Joe Pass, and plays in their tradition. But he also brings something entirely personal and exciting to the music.

People from a variety of musical traditions love what he does because he brings different traditions together in his unique way. The Warner Brothers recording artist, Michael Buble, said "Randy Napoleon is the best guitarist of our generation." John Clayton and Jeff Hamilton hired him to play at the Hollywood Bowl with them and used him on the Clayton-Hamilton Jazz Orchestra's recording, Live at MCG. He toured for a year with the Benny Green trio.

"Playing with Benny was a learning experience everyday," Napoleon wrote in the liner notes. "We would practice one song for hours without stopping, just to internalize a tempo. He opened my ears to how much I didn't know." This album attests to the fact that Napoleon knows a great deal now. (The liner notes also include comments about CHJO and Buble and a great photo!)

One of the special treats of this album is that Green, a viruoso jazz pianist, appears on half the tracks. Many of these songs are originals by Napoleon, who engages a quartet with drums (Quincy Davis) and bass (David Wong). The other tracks are mainly standards, played by the Randy Napoleon Trio (Davis and organist Jared Gold.)

Some of the tracks make me happy, particularly a Napoleon original called Face the Truth that I can't stop humming. Other tunes are relaxing and others are moody. (You can hear it on his website www.randynapoleon.com)

I just can't stop listening to this album!

SIMPLY AWSOME!!!!!!!!!!
From the moment I popped this cd into my cd player, I was hooked. Randy Napoleon can play the guitar like no other.
The wonderful selection of music on this cd sets me at ease and I forget about the stresses of my day. I can not stop listening to it.
My favorite song on here is These Foolish Things, I love the way he plays it, he gives it a voice all his own. I was so happy that it was one of the songs on the cd because I've heard it on his website and on his myspace page, but now I get it in cd form and can listen to it away from my computer!

RANDY'S NEW CD
THIS IS RANDY'S SECOND CD AND IT IS GREAT!!!!!!!!! "BETWEEN FRIENDS" IS ONE OF THE BEST CD'S I HAVE IN MY COLLECTION. HEARING RANDY PLAYING IS A TREAT AND HIS SOUND IS CLEAR. THE COMBINATION OF GUITAR AND B3 IS FANTASTIC. GO RANDY
