Album Description
With well over a decade of sonic seasoning under their belts, SFTG serves up more fresh sounding and widely acclaimed ambient, dub, trip hop and chilled back electronic musical styles. This is their fourth title in the growing Waveform catalog, HIGH RISING - a reflective and mesmerizing future classic and yet another elevated effort - this time more laid back, with welcomed guest contributions from long time supporter Taz as well as fellow UK recording artitst, Gaudi. Move up to the heady, good time vibes of HIGH RISING. Listen for some exceptional focus tracks, including, 'Rotorblade,' 'Slate Grey,' 'Viper Style' and 'Beautiful Feeling' featuring smooth, sensuous vocals from Taz.
From the Artist
Sounds From The Ground are London's Nick Woolfson and Elliot Morgan Jones. Their debut album, 'Kin' came out on Waveform in 1996. The duo's second Waveform album, 'Terra Firma,' released in 2000, helped secure SFTG as a satisfying and respected UK musical force. Billboard magazine called it "consistently engaging" and like all the SFTG titles, it continues to be enthusiastically received. In 2004, Nick and Elliot returned to their roots with their third Waveform title, 'Luminal.' A spacious and sometimes gritty release with contributions from pedal steel guitarist BJ Cole, vocalist Rachael Calladine, Canada's talented throat singer and Bjork contributor Tanya Tagaq Gillis, dub maestro Dillinger and up and coming UK vocalist Taz. CDBaby described Luminal as "less lounge and more fat and dirty."
Customer Reviews
ONE OF THE BEST OF 2006
I have been a fan of SFTG since "Kin" graced my speakers in 1996. Ive followed their career and enjoyed every one of their releases. Just when I thought their music could not get any better than "Luminal", I was blown away by my first listen of "High Rising". Wow! They really outdid themselves. The music just soars as the title so aptly implies. As anyone who knows their ambient/chill music must agree, "Triangle" from their first release is an alltime classic in the genre. Well, I do believe they have another classic in "Beautiful Feeling". When I first heard it, all I could do is shake my head and smile. This release is more laid back than "Luminal", and even more emotional. This is an instant classic.
Phenomenal
If you like Chillout or any other music that inspires thought provoking emotional depth then buy this CD. Its mind blowing. I cant even describe it. My fave is Beautiful Feeling.
BEST EVER TO DATE
