Perfecting Your Buddha Grooves.
Whenever I'm in Paris (which isn't often enough), I make it a point to get my Buddha Groove on at the Buddha Bar (http://www.buddha-bar.com/), which (in addition to its passionfruit martinis) is known for its avant-garde "Lounge" and "Chill" playlist. The "Buddha Bar" series was started by Tunisian house DJ Claude Challe, who practically invented the chill genre of lounge music in 1999 by mixing Occidental elements with spiritual elements together in his music. Drawing from previous collections produced and sequenced by house DJs Claude Challe, DJ Ravin, Sam Popat, Jean-Pierre Danel, and David Visan, this retrospective Buddha Bar compilation is a transcendent mix of electronica-driven global grooves with Middle Eastern, Brazilian, North African, Vietnamese, Hungarian, Indian, and Malian influences and hip Parisian references. The 30 tracks featured on the two CDs offer a perfect introduction to the Buddha Bar series:
1. Suite N°3 BWV 1068 (Air) - Jean-Sébastien Bach,
2. Light Signs - Riccardo Eberspacher
3. Moonrise - Nitin Sawhney
4. Felicidade - Suba

good chill out music
I first heard this CD while attending a yoga class in Los Angeles. Bought it right away and have really enjoyed it since. It's ok for something like yoga, but I like it best as background music. It's great for parties or other occasions where you want to talk, but enjoy light music in the background. This is a good sampler for people who are interested in getting a feel for the Buddha Bar series.
Not So Good
I just bought this, hoping, since I have been to the Buddha Bar in Paris many times, it's my favorite spot in Paris, that this compilation would represent the best of the world music groove that BB is famous for throughout the world. NOT EVEN. THIS IS AN INSIPID COMPILATION OF THOSE TRACKS THAT ARE THE LEAST INTERESTING-DON'T BUY IT-OTHER BB CD'S ARE MUCH BETTER.
