Bang Bang for your buck4
Three some what underrated over the top actioners from the glorly days of macho bulls***, I loved these flicks when I was a kid, and the kid in me still does. These aren't your waterdown PG-13, PC, wimpy sappy crappy crud like today. These ones come from back in the day when action was R-rated and men were unapolgicly macho, no mama's boys just needing a good hug.
First up is Tony Scott's THE LAST BOY SCOUT, dumb as it is fun, and that's to say a heck of a lot, Bruce Willis is an angry ex-cop turned PI, who's forced to take on Damon Wayans as his partner/sidekick/buddy to nail the veil scum of the Earth that killed Halle Berry. Killed Halle Berry, those scumbags must pay.
Then we get to see Don Johnson do some acting, well sorta, as a real life badarse who took down a gang of neo-nazi scumbags in John Frankenheimer's DEAD-BANG. This is actually a really good flick, not like MIAMI VICE at all, much edgier and grittier. Also William Forsythe's in it, as a good guy (!) with religous convictions (!!!) and dosen't like Don saying f**k all the time.
Finally the masterpiece of the set ACTION JACKSON, a way over the top action-comedy that rivals TANGO & CASH for sheer stupidity while still be an awsome movie. Carl Weathers is in it, what ever happen to that guy(?), as the coolest and toughest black hero since Shaft, I don't remember exactly what it was all about, but I do remeber he kicks a lot of butt. Vanity is in, she was smokin' hot and nekkid in it too; she was also pretty funny. This is the diamond in the rough and tough no holds barred collection.
The only bad thing is that flicks are all pan and scan, but heck that's the way I saw them on VHS as did most of you who saw them. So it's sorta nostalgic. My advice, get this DVD, call up a few old buddies, then kick back and watch the butts get kicked.
