Cybershot DSC-S700 Highlights

3x optical zoom lens 3x optical zoom helps the DSC-S700 bring distant subjects closer and lets you frame shots quickly for better composition -- a real advantage for family sports, outdoor fun and travel photos.
High sensitivity With high sensitivity of ISO 1000, the DSC-S700 gives you better shots in low light so you can shoot without flash to preserve the mood -- great for birthday parties, indoor gatherings and candid portraits.
Stamina battery power With optional Sony NiMH rechargeable batteries, you can capture up to an amazing 460 shots -- shooting capacity that’s about the equivalent of 13 rolls of 35mm film. With supplied AA alkaline batteries, the DSC-S700 can capture up to 100 shots.
24 MB internal memory You don’t need a flash memory card, because the DSC-S700 allows you to capture images with in-camera convenience -- then easily transfer your shots to optional Memory Stick Duo media, upload photos to your computer or make prints directly from the optional Sony Picture Station digital printer.

QVGA Movie Mode The DSC-S700 can capture 320 x 240 audio/video clips at high frame rate (up to 30 frames per second3), with length limited only by the capacity of your media.
Burst mode You can fire off three shots automatically at 1-second intervals (VGA standard mode) or 2-second intervals (7.2 MP mode) -- a great way to capture a child’s first steps or a pet’s best tricks.

Sony DSC-S700 Cybershot
I purchased the Cybershot DSC-S700 for my wife. She loves taking pictures but isn't into complicated gadgets. This camera is easy to use turn it on point and shoot. It has 3X optical zoom capability and additional features that will satisfy most photographers. I believe the Sony DSC-S700 is a great camera for the money and a wonderful gift for the amateur photographer in your family who just wants to capture the moment.
Very easy to use!
I've only owned Canons before, which I still love, but for the price and features of this camera, I thought I'd try something new. It's very easy to use. Each setting gives you a little onscreen description without you having to dig out the instruction booklet each time. It's point and shoot, takes AA batteries as opposed to lithium ones, and it's small in size so you could tuck it right into your pocket or purse if you wanted. I'm still getting used to the settings myself, but with as easy as it is to review and delete the photos you've already taken, it's not a big deal if I get one or two I don't like in the process. Plus, the clarity of the pictures is fantastic. Great for a first time digital camera owner, or someone who likes to travel light on vacation. And after shopping around, Amazon had the best price.
I'm really glad I purchased this camera when I did because now I can use it to take photos during the holidays. And with the camera bag and battery charger that Sony sells for this camera, it'll be easy to take with me, not to mention comforting to know that I can always recharge my batteries wherever I am if need be. Plus, SanDisk sells compatible memory cards for this camera at affordable prices, so you'll never have to worry about running out of room for photos.
Great Compact Camera
This camera is great for simple, family and or just general shots. The only drawback is that there is no audio playback on the camera itself. Therefore after recording a movie you will have to load it to a PC in order to hear the sound. However you can veiw a recorded movie on the cam, just with no sound.
The Landscape and Macro modes are quite good as well as the program settings, its a great Cam for those wanting to start life in photograpy!
