Greatest hits for a reason!
Jerry Reed has made quit a few recordings in the past, but never a compilation album this good! It has all the favorites : East bound and down, Amos Moses, When Your Hot Your Hot, and many more. Not only is it great for listening to at home, but you can listen to all your favorites on one album without having to change to other CDS in the car! I would recommend this album to anyone who is a die hard Jerry fan or to people who are just discovering the enormous talent of Jerry Reed!
More than just "East Bound and Down"
Jerry Reed, known to many as the hillbilly in the semi in "Smokey and the Bandit", had a pile of forgotten hits, which are masterfully laid out on this album. "East Bound..." is great, and "She Got the Goldmine" is a classic, but check out "Amos Moses", about an amputee beating up alligators, or "The Bird" (somebody get me a BB gun!). Laugh your butt off, and just for giggles, notice how many songs contain the phrase "contempt of court"..... "Super Hits" series are generally awfully good compilations, and I also recommend those by Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, and Geroge Jones. Moo.
A Good, Although Small Collection of Hits
This is a good album, especially for the price. There are only ten songs on it, but a nice selection of his music. There are even a few ballads; "Remembering" and "I Love You, What Can I Say" which I either had never heard before, or haven't in a long time. If you are used to hearing songs of his like "She Got the Goldmine (I Got the Shaft)" these ballads will be a pleasant surprise. Jerry Reed was a much more versatile artist than his most well known hits would lead people to believe. A good album for the classic country fan who wants a break from the Nashville sound.
