Tap is one of the best ways to start your dancing life. Within a short time, you will be able to work at a pace that provides plenty of fitness benefits, such as coordination, agility, timing, and rhythm. Rhythm is, of course, the main thing –when you tap, you are actually a percussion instrument.

HENRY LE TANG is acknowledged as a brilliant choreographer and tap choreographer. Sophisticated Ladies won him a Tony nomination. He has been teaching in his own professional studio since 1937. Join his other students –Bette Midler, Billie Holiday, Lee Marvin, Sugar Ray Robinson, Eleanor Powell –and learn tap dancing from a master.

HONI COLES –the legendary tap dancer –makes a guest appearance on this program. You will have a unique opportunity to do a simple dance routine with this master artist.

Customer Reviews

A complete and stylish routine made for beginners and fun to watch.5
This DVD features a dance preface and epilogue by the tap-master, Honi Coles. That alone gives this instructional DVD a unique value.

Mr. Coles dances the actual routine being taught. Beginning with a solo preface, he is later joined in the epilogue by the talented student-dancer, Cory Beychok.

Instruction by Mr. Tang is very clear and nicely paced, you don't feel rushed. The photography, set, and sound are superb. The musical pace is pleasant and comfortable.

A beginner will find this DVD ideal. It's also fun viewing for anyone who enjoys tap. Building on steps being learned, the result is a coherent and stylish routine. I recommend this excellent DVD.

Another Tap DVD that I highly recommend is "I Hate to Exercise, I Love to Tap" by Bonnie Frankin. Bonny's DVD is just as professional and vibrant as "Tap Dancing for Beginners." Bonnie takes you through basic floor exercises starting with a chair (for balance) and ends up teaching you routines in various styles. This is a can't miss! I'd get the DVD as it is also in VHS.
