Everything You Could Ask for in a Typing Method...
I don't understand why some parents would slam this software... perhaps they didn't even take the time to review it in detail with their kids... sure there are games in there, (to help practise typing skills), but if you use the "Typing tournament" section there is a very well thought out graduated set of typing lessons that methodically introduces children to the various keys, giving them instruction on correct fingering, and walking them through drills to build their proficiency. What more could you ask for? Plus my 9 year old son loves it and can't wait to do another lesson when he gets home from school. Highly recommended!
SpongeBob making typing fun!
This learn to type product suits my 10 year old for his only interest is to play video games. SpongeBob combines video game and the kid's natural competitiveness to motivate in learning a task that is basically boring. It really makes learning fun.
good, but not what I'd hoped.
This product is decent. My eight year old and his friends had a blast playing all the different typing games with their favorite characters. Installation and navigation through the program was easy. What it doesn't contain are the basics...the actual teaching of hand position and repetative learning of keystrokes by finger, that we all remember from typing class (jfjfjf kdkdkd lslsls etc. to learn where the keys are and which finger types them). There is one game that shows hand position, but it's not visually very clear, at least to me. I've kind of put this game away until we get a 'standard' typing tutor to teach him these basics first. Otherwise I feel that he is being encouraged to get really good at the hunt-and-peck method. It's too bad too, the game is really fun. It would be great for a child that already knows the basics and wants to practice in a game environment.
