Customer Reviews
There are better choices
This drive is Ok, but IMHO there are better choices.
I bought the drive because of the retractable usb port, and that is a nice feature. But, when I bought the drive I was unaware of all the junk they put on it; by junk, I mean "features". Although their software hasn't crashed my system, it is unnecessary, uses up valuable space (you are buying a storage device, right?) and makes backing up/ transferring data unnecessarily complicated.
I also own (several) Kingston flash drives- very simple to use. Myself, I prefer the Kingston. What I am looking for in a flash drive is storage, plain & simple. I don't want it adding another backup program, or games...just storage. That's what I get with the Kingston drives, and I will stick with them from now on.
Flash Drive fine, U3 is aggravation
My SanDisk flash drive was regularly crashing my desktop computer but worked fine on my notebook computer. I tried uninstalling the software on the device but wasn't able to uninstall U3. Through a web search, I found www.u3.com/uninstall/ and downloaded a small app that uninstalled U3 from the flash drive. No more crashes! I think the problem is caused when U3 tries to create an "e" and/or "f" drive on a computer that already has one. Some people seem to love U3 from the various reviews that I've read, but for a business person like me, it's a waste of time. The SanDisk hardware works fine.
Stay away from U3
My flash drive stopped working after I plugged it on a Windows Vista machine. After that, I couldn't even format it. I had to install and uninstall U3 three times to (luckly!) revive it. This drive now is in probation mode until I can trust on it again to keep important data.
Just google "u3 cruzer format problem" and you'll understand the problem.
