Dissappointing alternative trimmer1
My husband and I thought this new innovative design would be the answer to tangled string and be cheaper to use. We were wrong. The so-called long-lasting blade wears out very quickly, is expensive, and almost impossible to find locally (you pay shipping cost too). The worst problem however, is that it is NOT comfortable at all, producing back pains after only a few minutes of use, despite it having multiple adjustments. The power is also sorely inadequate, bogging down easily in tall grass. The "three speeds" are a joke. Please don't waste your money on this product.

Works as promised, very strong blade5
After reading tons of reviews, pro and con, on many different trimmers, I basically saw the same issue over and over again...problems with trimming lines. I have been very frustrated by this problem with my last trimmer - a gas powered model that engine completely failed earlier this year. This is when I happened upon an online ad for ShaperBlade. I actually took a chance with this product because at the time, there were no online reviews that I could find. But I very much liked the idea of a durable blade.

Here is my opinion: The product pretty much does what it promises. I have whacked the blade a number of times and thought for sure I broke it....but nope...it keeps on going strong.

It is not difficult to handle and feels relatively lightweight, certainly much lighter than my old gas trimmer.

With its electric motor, it is not as powerful as my gas trimmer but it works quite well for my purposes. Considering I have an acre and a half property including a long frontage and pool area where the weeds grow like crazy, it does a pretty good job. I did have to take a couple of passes where the grass was tall (over 18 inches), but it was no big deal to me.

Storage is very easy as it self-stands. I have used it just this past summer so I will be very interested in how it holds up over the next few years, but so far I rate it an excellent buy for the price and its abilities.

I Love It!5
I use this trimmer only for edgeing my lawn. The fact that it does not use the traditional string trimmer line, and the fact that it had a strong motor was the main reason I purchased it. I have gone through so many string trimmers only to be frustrated time and again by the same issue....broken line, and having to bump to feed new line. The trimmer line on this unit is encased in a single blade, which means it feeds and wears evenly without breaking. That means you don't have to stop to bump or re-string line.

Changing the blade is easy. just screw off the nob that holds the blade and replace it. No winding string around spools and trying to fit trimmer line through holes. That is worth the price alone.

I have hit concrete while edeging to get grass out of cracks in my driveway and thought for sure I had broken the blades only to find them intact and going strong. We have long, stringy, St. Augustine grass here and wimpy trimmers just was not getting the job done.

It is a little heavy but no more so than other trimmers. Tall stringy grass CAN get caught and wrapped around the motor but I resolved that by cutting tall grass at the top first then working my way down.

The only Con I can think of is the grass guard that comes with this if you use this for edging is useless. I took it off because I could not see the grass when I was edging, and while I don't have a problem with the price of the replecement blades some people might.

I recommend this trimmer to anyone who wants to be able to edge their lawn quickly efficently and hassle free.
