Great Gold Box Buy--Dirt Devil 110009 Reaction
For those of you who cancelled your orders for this vacuum after reading negative reviews (from people who didn't even own this model), I have to say, you missed out on a great deal. My gold box deal ($59.99) arrived yesterday, and I have to say I'm thrilled with it. It has great suction power, is light-weight, and has many nice features (Hepa filtration, foot operated on/off switch, bottom empty dirt cup so your hands stay clean, and scented filter cartridges (these have to be purchased separately), which keep your vac smelling great when you have several cats like me). It only took me about 10 minutes to get it up and running out of the box. I'm replacing my old vac with this one because I think it sucks up a lot more dirt and fur, and the filter cartridges keep everything smelling great.
Is the Dirt Devil 110009 perfect? No. It has some cons. For one, if you lift the vac up off the floor when you're vacuuming (when the handle isn't in the locked and upright position), it will lose suction, and you'll have to re-position the dirt container assembly on the vac again (the plastic assembly on the bottom looks weak here, and may even break if you do this one time too many). The cord is almost too long. I managed to wrap it around my coffee table twice even though it has a cord holder. Lastly, since it has such great suction, it means more filter maintenance. When you empty the dirt cup, you have to clean the hepa filter as well to maintain powerful suction. Oh, and on tile floors it does a good job, but you'll still have to use the attachments to get dirt out of the corners. This is when you notice that the manufacturer should have made the extendable hose longer, although the extendable attatchment helps with this.
I would agree with the reviewers on BB that gave this vac 3 stars, although they paid $159.99 for the same model.
Overall, I think this is a great vac for people who own animals. It will help you keep your house clean and smelling great. I think this was a great Gold Box Deal and I'm very satisfied with my purchase. For the price, it can't be beat.

Who needs a Dyson?
When I was shopping for a new vacuum I really wanted to check out the Dyson's, needless to say I was sticker shocked at the prices. The most comparable and more affordable vacuum was this one from Dirt Devil. It has great suction, is easy to use, not too heavy. I would recommend this one to friends. The only complaint I have is the hose attachment slides off a little too easily, and I will notice it off while I am vacuuming, which in result I am not getting any suction and have to redo the area I thought was done. But that may just be user error. ;-)

Disappointed
The product is very noisey and arrived with defective attachments. The drapery attachment is held together with a rubberband, which would be fine if it remained air tight. But it does not and is consequently ineffective.

It has many nice features, including a bagless system that works well, and a strong motor. But the overall impression is one of shoddy manufacture.
