Editorial Reviews

Album Description
Greg Brown's newest album is a live recording of his August 2005 concert at the Peterson Auditorium in Ishpeming, Michigan, which he performed for free to benefit the Yellow Dog Watershed Preserve. Yellow Dog is a raw, reverent commentary on the times we live in as well as a testament to the artist's love for the wild lands and waters of the Upper Peninsula. This album captures an intimate evening of notebook songs, including three never-before-recorded: "Better Days," "Oily Boys" and "All of Those Things." Also featured are reworkings of old favorites like "Dream Cafe" and "Canned Goods," and early versions of songs that later appeared on Greg Brown's recent Red House release, The Evening Call. Get the green party started and kick the prostitutes out of Washington D.C.5
I'm very glad to be contributing to such a noble cause by buying this wonderful live cd. Greg does not disappoint with his signature earthy, sometimes croony baritone. God I love those low notes! I definitely recommend buying this to one, add a beloved musician's live concert to your library, and two, to help donate to the cause of keeping the Yellow Dog River clean from the impending sulfide mining threat. All thumbs up for this project. Thanks Greg!

Why isn't Greg a super star?4
Wearing his heart on his sleeve while supporting a cause close to his heart, Greg manages to tug at the heartstrings while never settling into complacency. The music is the star here, warts and all. This is an intimate performance of note-book songs and Greg gives them all life. Why this man isn't a super star, I'll never know!
