Elgar s Tenth Muse, shot on location in London and Sussex, dramatises a moving moment in the life of English composer, Sir Edward Elgar. It is set in 1919, with Elgar tormented by self-doubt and convinced he would never write again. It was then that he heard the brilliant, Hungarian violinist Jelly d Aranyi, an outstanding musician, and beautiful young lady. Elgar was entranced by her playing and called her his darling tenth muse . Their differences formed the basis of a brief but poignant relationship

Customer Reviews
Not Enough About the Muse -- Superficial
Elgar's Tenth Muse was interesting, up to a point. However, the content was inadequate and superficial. If there had been more said about Jelly d'Aranyi, or about Lady Elgar, the DVD would have been more interesting. As it was, there seemed to be Much Ado About Nothing.
