Customer Reviews
NOT FOR ME
LIKES:
* At the extra-discounted price I paid, it was relatively inexpensive.
* Mine came with 3 measuring cups, instead of the 2 mentioned in the product description.
* Extra blades store inside the Top.
DISLIKES:
* The Top of the grater is very difficult to turn -- which is my biggest complaint. The shallow notches just aren't sufficient to get a good grip. I tried the grater out on a soft Parmesan -- so I'm guessing that a harder cheese, or chocolate, would be even more difficult.
* Cheese (chocolate, etc.) must be cut into 2 small pieces to fit inside the 2 interior sections.
* The measuring cups don't nest, requiring more storage space.
* Since the grater's not air-tight, you can't store grated or partially-grated cheese in it, unless you place the whole thing into a zip-top bag.
* Though the extra blades store inside the Top, you'll end up washing them every time you use the grater since the lower section of the Top touches whatever food you're grating.
For the discounted price, it was worth trying this grater out -- I really wanted to love it. Unfortunately, it's going to the thrift shop. Maybe it will be good for someone else, but it's not for me.
The best I've tried
I've tried different 3 rotator type grater/shavers and have been disappointed. By far this one is the best. There are several pieces to wash, but I like that it comes with 3 separate stainless steel disks and 2 extra clear cups so if you were grating 3 different cheeses you would not have to stop and wash a container. For $10, I think it's a good deal.
Not easy to use
I bought this for grating hard cheeses like parmesan. It's nice that it comes with multiple blades, but honestly I've had this for a year and I only ever use one. Maybe the blades aren't sharp enough, I'm not sure, but it's very difficult to grate. You have to get a good bit of leverage and start forcing the thing and after a minute your forearm can get pretty tired. God forbid you want to grate a half cup, it's just impossible. I would recommend getting one with a turning lever.
