Fear of Flying
Anyone who has read the graphic novels of Goscinny and Uderzo will love this movie adaptation of the adventures of Asterix the Gaul and his friend Obelix, whom as you may remember, fell into a cauldron of magic potion when he was a baby.
This animated movie introduces a couple of new characters, and remains as faithful to the series as you can get, while at the same time updating it a little with references to new technology and some music and dance moves that go down a lot easier than a sonnet from Cacofonix
Short Attention Span Summary (SASS):
1. The vicious Vikings are running out of places to plunder, loot and burn
2. Viking chief Timandahaf misinterprets an old saying, and decides he wants to learn the meaning of fear
3. Meanwhile, Gaulish chief Vitalstatistix requests that Asterix (Paul Giamatti) and Obelix (Brad Garrett) teach his nephew Justforkix (Sean Astin) how to be a man.
4. This is easier requested than achieved, as Justforkix is a lover, not a fighter
5. When they inevitably meet, the Vikings find that they may have met their match in the indomitable Gauls
6. If you've read the books, you'll know that the movie includes boars, menhirs, magic potion, and the usual very brief skirmishes and routs
7. Star-crossed lovers put a damper on a traditional Viking ceremony
8. The Vikings learn that fear ain't all it's cracked up to be
This movie is thoroughly enjoyable, especially with the pop culture references, snappy dialogue, character names, and all the machinations and scheming. Recommended for all ages.

Asterix and the Vikings
My French classes are really enjoying this film. They watched Asterix the Gaul first.
This is a good "sequel."

More than the book
Great fun for all Asretix fans. The story line has been altered from the book with our gallant heros traveling up to the land of the Norsemen. I did miss some of the in jokes Time and a Half for example.
