Wonderful New Trombone Music
I am glad that the Stentorian Consort decided to record these wonderful contemporary pieces for trombone quartet. Their performances are masterful and their choice of pieces is equally masterful. Anyone who enjoys listening to the warm beautiful, yet powerful sound of the trombone would enjoy owning this recording.
Excellent
As a trombonist myself, I am constantly in search of new recordings. I stumbled across this gem of a find a few weeks ago and was pleasanly surprised by the high level of playing going on here. Texas has long been a well of great brass playing given the many schools in the Dallas/Forth Worth and Houston areas known for their brass departments (North Texas, UT Austin, Rice, Texas Tech to name a few). This recording features the oft played but never recorded Myths and Legends by Eric Ewazen, and what a wonderful job they do. The other selections are also very well chosen, and well thought out. Bravo!
