Product Description

Please note that this is a PAL, Region 2 DVD Set and requires PAL or multi-system capable DVD players. It will not play on standard North American DVD players. Both movies contain French Audio Track only with no English Subtitles. Please read the item technical description carefully. ----------------------------------- Synopsis: Les Miserables: Not a strict adaptation of the oft-filmed Victor Hugo classic, director Claude Lelouch's ambitious epic instead focuses on the story of two men, a father and a son, whose life stories bear striking similarities to Hugo's character Jean Valjean. ---------------------------- Another Man, Another Chance: Claude Lelouch's Another Man, Another Chance is set in 1870. Fleeing from the Franco-Prussian war, Jeanne (Genevieve Bujold) and boyfriend Francis (Francis Huster) escape to the American west. Their course does not run smooth, and soon Jeanne is left alone to care for her baby. Meanwhile, American veterinaran Jimmy (James Caan), an absolute stranger to Bujold, endures his share of woes, not least of which is the rape and murder of his wife by desperadoes. Inevitably, Caan and Bujold meet and fall in love. Having already suffered the death of Huster, Jeanne tries to dissuade Jimmy from his single-minded pursuit of his wife's murderers. This character conflict determines the outcome of the film's final scenes. Another Man, Another Chance was distributed in the US by United Artists.

Another Man, Another Chance3
I was the Location Manager for this movie. The Great French Director, Claud Lelouch was the man in charge and we film most of it in and around Tucson, Arizona. The one shot that I remember is as follows: James Caan left the train station at Old Tucson Studios, walked across the street and stopped to speak with some one. Claud never stopped the camera. From there he followed Caan as he walked into the hotel, camera on a crane moves around the side and peers through a window as we see Caan register, then walk upstairs as the crane goes up and catches him walking into his room, Claude stepped off the crane and through the window..all in one motion. Lelouch is the only director in the world that could pull that off. This is a great follow up to his first Man and Woman. You will love the scenery of Arizona and the love story that follows. I hope it comes in DVD Region one someday.

excellent film and film making5
I saw this movie when it first came out over 30 years ago. The long long tracking shots over roofs and past windows throughout are breathtaking!
I WISH I could get an English version of this on DVD... No one has ever heard of this movie and that's such a shame because it's great acting, a great story, great characters and great film making. What else is there??

Un homme et une femme encore4
Another Man Another Chance is the same basic story as "A Man and a Woman" -- but set almost a hundred years earlier in the American West. The man races horses instead of cars and the woman makes photographs that require a great deal of light. And light there is! The light is as plentiful in this one as the rain was in "A Man and a Woman". I wish it were available in the US/Canada format.
