It's my opinion that holding out for the Deluxe Edition is definitely the way to go here; the additional work by Secret Machines and the longer version of "Let It Be" make this one indespensable.

DO NOT BUY THIS CD....GET THE DELUX EDITION3
Ok so i pre-ordered this b/c i love the beatles and was very excited to get this. Now onto the bad part. The songs are great don't get me wrong...but there are at LEAST 4 missing from this cd in comparison to the DELUX EDITION (available on itunes). For example "Girl" "Dear Prudence" "I want you" and "If i fell" None of those are on this CD, great cd but not the one you want to buy!

Amazing ... 5
First of all, it's very difficult to properly review this soundtrack without seeing the movie. Each song is performed in a particular context ... very creatively, I might add ... and forming an opinion on just the song itself without having the visual that Julie Taymor put with it is not doing yourself, or the creative work, proper credit.

I just saw the movie tonight and it is brilliant. And each song was amazingly portrayed on film. While "Let It Be" was by far my favorite song (as well as gut wrenching scene), I swear I will never hear "Strawberry Fields Forever" in the same way. These songs really MUST be heard with the visual that Julie brilliantly directed. I cannot stress that enough.

This album is not about paying homage to The Beatles as much as it was to use the Beatles music to tell a story. And trust me, that it has done.
