Album Description
Who needs a brother when we have Alison? Despite the mainstream acceptance of O Brother, Where Art Thou?, Alison stands stoically as bluegrass's most visible practitioner. A fiddle prodigy, Alison began her career while still a teenager. While these early recordings were rooted in traditional bluegrass, her sonic palette soon expanded to include contemporary material. Her warm performances and beautiful voice justly crossed into the mainstream, earning well-deserved acclaim.
Bluegrass was created on the influences of old-timey music, which itself is rooted in the ancient musical traditions of the British Isles. Therefore, this album isn't simply a loving look at the music of Alison Krauss; it is a history lesson of popular music in America. Fiddle, banjo, and pennywhistle create an authentic atmosphere of yesteryear when folk songs were cheerfully passed between musicians. This album is packed with lively interpretations of Alison's best-loved songs.
Customer Reviews
perfect fusion of two loves
There's nothing I love more than finding a surprising combination of two things I already like. We love Alison Krauss. We love Celtic music. Voila--all of Alison's signature songs played by Celtic instruments. No vocals. Pleasant and enjoyable.
Celtic Trbute ti Alison Krauss
I am surprised with this CD. I think I assumed it would be a tribute by Alison Krauss of the Celtic type. It is good and I certainly enjoy it.
