It's hip to hop, but I was jumping through hoops.
Skipping is a great cardio workout, affordable, and doesn't require fancy equipment or videos, so I purchased the Danskin speed rope. The removable weights in the handles add an extra dimension to skipping. I needed to shorten the rope considerably, but it was very easy to do. The instructions suggest holding the handles in one's armpits and standing in the center, but I needed to lose another 2" after that - it wasn't smooth and I lost rhythm by tripping over it. The rope turns very smoothly within the handle, and doesn't tangle. Unfortunately for me, the rope lost its flexibility outside in the cold, and it definitely changed my workout plans (cold weather+low ceilings=bummer). Dang. My friend has a building with higher ceilings, so I took it there and skipped on a hardwood floor for a few minutes- only to discover that the plastic rope was leaving nasty little marks on the floor. Double dang! There was also instant wear on the rope: shaggy, frayed bits where it had struck the floor (I can only imagine what the outdoors will do to it when warm weather finally comes and I take it outside). Grumble, grumble. Then it was out to the shop for a cardboard box to rip open and put on the floor to jump on. By then, I wasn't really into that workout and decided to do something else. Subsequent efforts have been all right. If I was doing it again, I might spring for a ropeless one, despite the ridiculous expense, because I have low ceilings and the rope material is unsatisfactory. It's all rather absurd, because I never thought a jumprope required so much thought and planning. Sheesh!

Okay jump rope
This works, but it's too long for me. I was able to adjust the length, but that means that the weights won't fit in the handles anymore. If not for that, I would give it five stars.

Like being a kid again
I love this! I can go outside and jumprope with my kids and be getting a workout at the same time...I know you can use any jumprope to do this, but with the adjustable weighted handles on this rope I can add weight to my workout or take it out just to feel like a kid again!
