Editorial Reviews
Amazon.com essential recording
In the middle of the techno revolution, it was a bit of a risky move for Gloria Estefan to release Gloria!, an album of pure, unadulterated disco that sounds as if it could have been recorded two decades earlier. The risk paid off, though, because the album turned out to be one of her best--a nonstop dance party that keeps cooking through beat-heavy thumpers such as "Heaven's What I Feel," "Oye," and "I Just Wanna Be Happy"--the latter two bring in some of the Latin elements of her Miami Sound Machine days. Two concessions to current music trends include a duet with Wyclef Jean on "Don't Release Me" and the politically charged lyrics of "Cuba Libre" that cause you to think while you dance. --Daniel Durchholz
Vibe
On the spirited and notably youthful gloria! ... [Gloria Estefan] dons the persona of saucy disco vamp--a role that's clearly designed to rattle a few complacent consumer cages.... The ultimate beauty of gloria! is that Estefan never retreats to comfortable territory.... [S]he seems to be having so much fun here that it may be a while before we see another incarnation of this ever mobile pop chameleon.
Entertainment Weekly
Not since 1987 has Cuba's crossover queen made an album so unrelenting in its fusion of disco with salsa.... [T]racks like "Lucky Girl" and the ominously undulating "Cuba Libre" reach for the skies like a missile-crisis fiesta thrown by Donna Summer.

HOT, HOT, HOT
My friend bought this CD for me from Amazon and I was completely stunned. I like Gloria Estefan to a degree and was a little weary before putting it on but this blasts all her other albums away! It has to be one of the best albums I've heard this decade with incredibly catchy dance tunes mixed all the way through. My faves are "Heavens What I feel" "Don't let this moment end" "Oye" "Don't Stop" and "I just wanna be happy" but it's so hard to choose as all the songs could be hit singles. I thought Chers "Believe" album was the best dance album I had in my collection but this CD leaves it behind. Thank God my friend had the guts to buy this for me as I never even knew it existed, it must have been pretty badly promoted over here in Ireland as it should have been a smash!
great and the lasted time
gloria etesfan broke the sound manchine in the 90,s and remind on the top from 1994 to 1998 from hold me kiss to this album she got radio airplay for while this deal with a mixed of music 70,s disco the donna summer era and 80,s salsa her era and hip hop o i forgot she did cover vick susan in 1994 an i feel gloria fits brabar streisand shoes my parnets gen loves her with a passion you had artists who after her but people didn,t love thesse people like cher , oliva , even donna summer, gloria doesn,t have a huge voice like mariah carey this cd got major airplay in 98 and this would be the last i seen her since . the only pop star that i know of that people loved besides micheal jackson so dearly she made bad cd,s but this a winner gloria left with a good one. you should be proud of the carear that you gloria
Don't let this Gloria! end!!!
If you are a dance diva fan, and u still dont have this one u have no idea what r u missing, i have always been a fan from Gloria but defenetily this is really the most different album from all others, this one could've been a new Cher record, but hey is Gloria!.
This is a Non Stop album, so it makes u think that this Gem will never end. The best track here has to be
'Don't let this moment end' the Type-of-Disco Video makes it different from her others (The big, big hair is the best)
The Cover of the US version was supposed to be the cover from the int'l version but someone made a mistake and switch them.
Gloria works with Wyclef Jean (Fugees), a rare collaboration.
so if you want to dance, this is your Gloria! .
