"Buona Vita", goot time and magic chill-out splendour with Nick The NightFly.
It's a 3CDs Box Set, a compilation of 48 tracks, created and thought by Nick The NightFly, musician and DJ of italian Radio Monte Carlo, spacing from jazz, chillout, soul, world and Brazilian music and the new Millennium soundscapes.
A musical travel in three cd "Yesterday", "Today" and "Tonight", distinguished for typology of music, but joined from the same ability to move.
Here his inspired idea is to take his favourite jazz, jazzy, electronica and pop tracks, rev them up with funky beats and his famous mates and transform them into dream party tunes.
Nick The NightFly (aka Malcom Charlton), Scots musician, was born in Glasgow and moved to Italy in 1982.
Italy's (and maybe Europe's) most famous DJ, artistic director of the well-known Blue Note Club of Milan and voice of the evening program by the same name on Radio Montecarlo, Nick returns with his most polished and celebrated compilation to date.
Great names and a refined, eclectic atmosphere all make for the sheer joy of listening.
On "Yesterday", he blands tracks from the past to songs from present perfect: "Baby Come To Me" by the incomparable Regina Belle, Grover Waghington's take of "Take 5" and Maxwell's "Ascension", "Dance To Me To The End of Time" by Madeleine Peyroux and "Everybodygente" by Carlinhos Brown and Rachelle Ferrell's "I can Explain".
In CD 2 "Today",you find great and contemporary grooves, something new with The JuJu Orchestra, "What is Hip" with vocals by Terry Callier and Carolin Leonhart; you will enjoy the summery sound of Koop and some new talents from Italy, Mario Biondi and Sergio Cammariere, Nina Simone's remix "The Look Of Love", and the brilliant "Raw Artistic Soul" from percussionist Phil Kullmann.
In the third CD "Tonight", the atmosphere turns more down-tempo and sensual: it opens with the track "Patu Patu Patu" featuring Nick The Nightfly and two musicias from New Orleans, wife and husband Kim Prevost and Bill Solley, and goes on with tunes by John Mayer, German trumpeter Till Bronner, British sensation Corinne Bailey Rae with "Like A Star", Italian jazz singer Amalia Grè, and Aaron Neville with Chaka Chan in a Soul classic, "Let's Stay Togeter", Bill Withers, Pat Metheny, Charlie Haden, Alison Moyet and Jamiroquai.
This gorgeous compilation, says Nick, "reunites the music that has hit us more, the melodies that marked us and you have listened with us during the year and some tracks difficult to find". "We can discuss if music is a universal language but we all agree that love is a universal force task. 'Buona Vita (in Italian for Good Life), good time and good luck!" Nick adds.
The 48 track set offers all this and much more, probably making this 3 CDs Box Set the best crafted and most effective of the series.
