Sinfonia Electronique is an international collective of European and North American musicians who have collaborated over time and across continents to interpret new musical works created by its members. Inspired here by the complementary influences of Italian composer Luciano Berio, American composer Morton Subotnick, and Austro-Hungarian composer Gyorgy Ligeti all pioneering musical innovators of the mid-to-late twentieth century A Tribute to... marks the American release debut of Sinfonia Electronique. Focusing on compositions by American musicians Richard Eppedio and C.R. Keyser-Posner, and featuring performances by a select group of kindred musical spirits from various stylistic backgrounds, Sinfonia Electronique seeks to move forward while maintaining a backward gaze, ever mindful of those who have come before them and blazed an amazing trail of musical mastery, leaving a legacy these performers strive to keep alive in the twenty-first century.....and beyond.

Strange, Beautiful, and Chilling
There are some great pieces of music on this disc. My favorite is "Temple of the Vestals" a chilling piece of music that I used on Halloween to play in the background as I read ghost stories to my friends. On Atmospheric Water I can hear the influence of Subotonick which is my second favorite piece. "Stratospheric Sojourn" reminds me a bit of Berio's music on Sinfonia; Ekphrasis. At times I hear some influences of Luigi Nono, although no mention is made. As far as Ligeti, I don't hear too much of an influence, perhaps a little bit of "Apparitions". At the end of the day this is a fresh original work, that despite it's style it is easy to listen to. There is a nice retro feel here, while still being very modern in it's production and choice of sounds. This is a long but enjoyable album, if you like this type of ultra modernist music that is.
