Average customer review:Product Description
This lavish period drama tells the story of Eleanor Bramwell (Jemma Redgrave), a pioneering female doctor in the late nineteenth century, and the struggles she has with her friends, her colleagues and society. Determined to take the medical profession out of the dark ages, her strongly held opinions often draw her into conflict with the chief surgeon, a man keener on tradition than he is on progress. Also starring David Calder and Robert Hardy.

Just a portion of a really great BBC presentation
The whole Bramwell series is not to be missed. The only problem is that the ENTIRE series is NOT out in a boxed series and we have to buy them in bits parts & pieces. SOMEBODY PLEASE release the ENTIRE SERIES SOON!!!!!!!!!
Bramwell
Excellent! You have to start at season one, you will be walked through social classes, sexism, damned determination, and love. A must see for edwardian period costumes, lifestyle, architecture, woman power, happy and sad life events. You will not be able to stop watching until you have completed all 4 dvd's. Enjoy!
Bramwell - the series
I have wanted to own this series since I saw it on Masterpiece Theatre several years ago. My daughter and my husband gave me part of the set for Christmas - I finished up the set for myself. I enjoyed watching every minute of it and look forward to watching it again and again. If you have never seen this series, I highly recommend it for anyone interested in the Edwardian England lifestyle - and especially for those interested in women's struggle for equality. Eleanor Bramwell overcame enormous obstacles and prejudices to live her life as a doctor.
