Even better than the photo!5
I liked this stocking so much that I bought 2, 1 for each grandchild. I've made other stockings, but this is by FAR the most beautiful! The detail is incredible, and the photos don't capture it fully. I agree this is a LOT of work - allow plenty of time before Christmas (start this summer?) Also you should have some embroidery experience first - this is not for beginners! And I didn't think the embroidery directions were all that easy to follow if you didn't already know how to embroider. Call your local extension department to get help with that if needed. But the results were well worth the effort! A keepsake to hand down through the family for many years! Additional note: I've seen reviews for other products that say Bucilla has apparently started skimping on materials. I agree - on one of the stockings, I ran out of beads and thread. Since I had plenty left from the other kit, this wasn't a problem for me - just note that apparently Bucilla is very cooperative with resupplying you if this happens. Just call the 800 number, don't try to match the colors yourself. Also, note they're serious about not stuffing the characters too much - I did on the first and it didn't turn out quite as nice.
On the second stocking, I also substituted some purchased trims and pom-poms instead of some of the original stitching - it turned out even better!

alot of embroidery4
I love this product however I am a beginner and this product involves alot of embroidery. My only complaint is that I feel they did not include an adequate amount of embroidery thread and I had to go to hte craft store to purchase more.

Bucilla Felt Stockings in general5
I have not made this stocking but have made four other Bucilla stockings over the years (and am now starting on my 5th)....none of which are still being sold. My mother made my Bucilla stocking for me when I was 5 and I am now 36 and still use the same stocking. They are really treasured items in our family. I wanted to say that I have never found them to be difficult per se. They are extremely time consuming though. If you are a beginner....just go slow, and go line by line on the instructions. Do not try to do a short cut. I have run out of materilas on a kit in the past and Bucilla promptly sent me what I needed free of charge. Definitely do not try to go to the craft store to match beads or thread. I have never found an exact match and it's much easier to just call them. Also...I never use that felt hanger they include in the kit. I go out and buy some pretty cording and loop it around and attach it for the hanger part. I also hand stitch a border using the same cording aroud the edges and it makes for a really beautiful finish. Lastly I attach a little bell or some other little doodad either to the toe of the stocking or right where the hanger is. As far as the stitched name. I don't really use their instructions. I write the person's name in my handwriting on a piece of paper and have used either 6 strands of embroidery floss or the cording leftover from the border and I tack it in place. I always figure that having the person's name written in my handwriting will mean more than some generic font given on the Bucilla pattern. I am going to tr to post a pic of the last stocking I made to show you what I mean.
