Album Description
Although The Marshall Tucker Band is famous for its live prowess, there has never been a DVD featuring the original lineup of the band--until now. Carolina Dreams Tour '77 captures MTB onstage performing their biggest hits: "Heard It In A Love Song," "Fire On The Mountain," "Can't You See" and many more. In addition to the DVD, this 3-disc set also contains the same concert spread across two CDs. Either way, it's awonderful slice of MTB in its early prime.

BLAZING THUMBS...
First off, some critics will say the video was not super bright and clear on the DVD. Well, to me, it looks darn good for a 30 year old tape. The sound quality was plenty fine(the surround sound mode has a nice EQ that the stereo mode lacks)(I dont have surround). Being a huge Tucker fan, seeing Toy and Tommy leading this band on lots of hits brought back many memories. After the viewing, my friend and I noticed that "24 Hours At A Time" hadn't played? I hit the "bonus" section, and found that song listed as "re-constucted". It seems that the 30 year old tape had problems in that part of the concert. We pressed play and were treated to a 2 minute slide show while a lower sound quality song played in the background...but it went directly into the actual concert video. The remaining 3/4 of the song(the best part) cooked. My friend and I both declared that this Marshall Tucker DVD was the treat of a lifetime. If you're a fan, its a MUST OWN. If you came in late in their career, dont worry about it. Watching Toy and his brother Tommy, side by side, playing the strings of their instruments with their thumbs is beyond cool!
Four out of Five ain't bad
If you are a die hard Marshall Tucker fan like myself you will love this CD/DVD combo. I had to pick it up because 1977 was the year I graduated High School and Tucker was a huge part of my life then. It does need to be said that the quality of this package is that of 1977 not 2007. I'm sure it could have been restored better but it would have taken a lot longer and cost so much more and for the price you will get a great performance by Marshall Tucker in a year that many say they were at their peak. If any of you grew up through that time period and understood what true bootlegs were, this will seem stellar. I give it four stars only because of audio/visual quality.
However, that being said, I have no regrets slapping down my money for this one. I got a chill watching it for the first time much like I did back in the day when the band hit the stage. Seeing Tommy and Toy, along with Doug, George and Jerry and Paul together is such a treat. The performance is top notch covering their classics and the most recent material of the time. Watching Toy and Tommy feed off each other and knowing that they always gave their all along with the rest of the band makes this a must have. If you are introducing someone to the band this is a great place to start. I highly recommend this combo and want to thank Doug Gray and company for putting this out. I know that there are many Tucker shows on tape sitting around and if we buy them, I'm sure they will continue putting them out. Performance wise, I give this a FIVE!! Tom Earl
Great band, poor audio quality.
I am a Marshall Tucker Band fan. I bought most of their albums when they were introduced and have purchased much duplicate music on CD's in recent years. I gave this concert disk set 2 stars because of the poor audio quality. Unfortunately the audio quality of the Carolina Dreams Tour '77 disk set is significantly less than that of the audio CD's containing the band's studio recordings from that era. I own a nice audio system and I appreciate good quality sound. If you have a similar opinion regarding audio quality, you will be disappointed with the disk set.
