Perfect solution
My porch light uses candelabra bulbs which don't last long and give off little light. This adapter let me use the twisted florescent replacement light bulbs that give off a good amount of light and last a long time -- and are energy efficient. Caution: make sure you have the room for the adapter and light bulb.
What a relief!!!!!!!!!!!!
Before I bought this enlarger, I had recently placed a new ceiling fan. I didn't notice that only candelabra light bulbs could be placed, with a maximum of 40W. I placed one lightbulb and it shone very dimly. After I bought the enlarger, I placed a power saving light bulb of 13W and now the room is lit properly.
This enlarger saved me around $90 and the effort of replacing the ceiling fan.
These work pretty well
the problem with candelabra bulbs is they are cheap, mini candelabra bulbs don't last, come in too few varieties, these allow you to put a standard bulb in a mini socket. no idea what the person is talking about who couldn't get them to make any contact, sounds like either his bulbs or his lamp is faulty. They work as advertised. one did break after a couple years, but if I could find them elsewhere locally, I'd use them. These aren't exactly cutting edge tech, but what did you expect?
Lowes and home depot don't carry them as of 2008. it is what it is. Glad I was able to find them. Mini sockets are a pain. I will buy more of these again.
