EVITA: Few times in the history of Hollywood has a film been released with the scope and daring of EVITA! Now, experience this landmark achievement as entertainment megastar Madonna -- in the role of a lifetime -- joins Antonio Banderas for the year's most talked about motion picture event! Directed by award-winning filmmaker Alan Parker, EVITA is the riveting true-life story of Eva Peron, who rose above childhood poverty and a scandalous past to achieve unimaginable fortune and fame. Despite widespread controversy, her passion changed a nation forever! Winner of the coveted Academy Award(R) for Best Song (1996) and 3 Golden Globe Awards (Best Picture, Best Actress, and Best Song) -- critics nationwide hailed EVITA as a triumphant must-see masterpiece -- and so will you! FRIDA: Nominated for six 2002 Academy Awards(R), including Salma Hayek for Best Actress, FRIDA is the triumphant motion picture about an exceptional woman who lived an unforgettable life! A product of humble beginnings, Frida Kahlo (Hayek) earns fame as a talented artist with a unique vision. And from her enduring relationship with her mentor and husband, Diego Rivera (Alfred Molina -- CHOCOLAT), to her scandalous affairs, Frida's uncompromising personality would inspire her greatest creations! WARNING! "EVITA" IS STILL NOT IN ANAMORPHIC3
This edition includes the two movies on two separate discs and "Evita" is still the exact same disc everyone has been overstocked with and can buy 50 copies for $10 each at Virgin. I bought this edition just assuming "Evita" would finally be formatted and watchable on a 16 by 9 tv and I don't know if I'm entitled to a refund or not so right now I'm out $18 and this distributor needs to stop being so lazy repackaging DVDs printed 10 years ago and not even watchable on a modern tv especially considering the quality of the film. So "The Wiz," "Titanic" and soon "Mrs. Doubtfire" are finally in anamorphic but this movie's still dragging behind with cinemascope-within-4:3 output that looks terrible on wide panels yet the movie is apparently good enough that it was one of the first to be released on DVD 10 years ago. I don't care about bonus features just somebody please release this movie formatted. Having said all this, it's a magnificent film. I have not seen "Frida."
