A powerful documentary about living abroad!

Ralf and Johnny are expatriates who are experiencing life in each other's countries. Ralf is a 31 year-old artist from Germany who has been living in America for a bit over a year. Johnny is a 31 year-old artist from America who has been living in Germany for a bit over a year. Both believe their new country of residence to be the only place where they can exist as the person they want to be and as the person they truly are - a life-loving and adventurous artist. On the foreign turf, they do not have to face the reality and criticism that made their lives difficult in the home country. In the new country, they believe to be free of their social and cultural expectations. In the new country, they experience artistic inspiration by meeting people of different backgrounds. However, both of them made an unusual choice - being a foreigner.

As their lives are being documented over the course of their second year of living abroad, Ralf and Johnny's discovery of the 'foreigner self' marks the beginning of a long and rocky road between finding and losing oneself. They begin to realize that their choice of existence comes at a price.

This documentary has screened at selected film festivals and is an Accolade Competition winner!

Gotta love independent documentaries!5
I'm a documentary film nut and this one I'll make sure to put on the top shelf of my collection. It's a well made film that gave me great insight in the ups and downs of alternative lifestyles. I wanna live abroad!!!

This film made me hungry for turkey tacos.5
I want to write a review, the Man says I have to buy a product first. This is an outrage. Just because I have not actually seen the movie does that not mean I am qualified to talk about it? I think not.

I have talked about many things that I knew nothing about, and people have thanked me for. Why? Well, because they were really old and confined to a bed in some decrepit nursing home and were happy for the company even if it was just some guy who babbled on and on about nothing.

That's the beauty of those old people. That's why they're called the Greatest Generation. They sacrifice for a greater good. They suffer with dignity.

They let me talk about nothing. And that is one thing for which I am qualified. I have been doing nothing since 1993.
