Customer Reviews

Don't drop it!!!4
Really cool product. Couldn't wait to receive it. Love it. It took some figuring out how/when to best use the timers. It seems you can either use it to count down for example when baby last had a diaper change, etc., but if you set a timer for that same event, it erases your previous time when the timer goes off. Biggest thing: DON'T DROP IT!!! I mistakenly had it clipped to my belt thinking that the belt clip would hold it. I bent down to pick something up, it popped off, hit the floor, and landed it some way so that it broke the back-light button. Took it apart thinking it would pop back out only to find that nothing would work whatsoever when we screwed it back together. I liked the product enough though to order another one. I intend to give these as gifts for baby showers with the caveat to not drop them.

TIME IT RIGHT4
This is a marvelous product, if used at the proper time. With a newborn, this thing will drive you crazy (unless you need the night light) because you'd have to transfer all of the info. There's no way to track even one day's worth of data, so you can't recognize problems, inform your pediatrician (e.g., # of diapers and type, # and length of naps or feedings, etc.) or figure out your baby's patterns (I recommend the Baby Whisperer's E.A.S.Y. Log for that.).

Once your kid reaches about 6-8 weeks and things stabilize a bit, you can rely more on the Itzbeen.
- It's great for handing the kid off to other caregivers, including grandparents (who had no trouble figuring the thing out).
- The timers are cool. They can all be set individually. I use one to remind me to pump between "nursings."
- The beep/blink is useful and it's great that you can turn the sound off (which we do last thing at night).
- Love the multiple colors. My sister's baby is 3 months older than mine and we're together a lot. We never get the blue and green Itzbeens mixed up.

Proposed Improvements:
- Backpack ring in addition to clip
The thinness of the clip is great for clothing (and comfort of the wearer)but not for diaper bags. A ring clip on the side of the unit would give unobstructed options.

- Day's Worth Data Dump
If it would store one day's worth of data that I could download...woo hoo!

- More resistance in L/R indicator
Mine moves too easily.

Defective from the get go Revized1
Revision: I actually got a note from the creators of the product offering to replace the product. It does say a lot to see them stand behind it.
The product had a very limited useful life for me -- now that baby is 5 months old I do not use it. Had everything worked properly, however, I would have been happy for the info it provided the first three months and would have ranked it much higher. Again, I would strongly suggest - buy and try in advance.

Original Post:
I hoped to use this thing as soon as I came back from the hospital, so three days before my due date I got it out and tried to make sense how it works only to discover that any time I pressed the second button (the feeding button) the whole thing gets reset and blanks out. Taking the batteries out and placing them back again restarts the thing till the next time you press the same button.

Well, given all time constraints and all you need to do with a newborn who has time to bother with mailing to factory and getting replacement, etc. I wish there was some option to exchange at Babies'r'us or some similar deal but alas -- I am stuck with a defective $25 + item. I do use it and make do using the extra star button as a feeding button, but I quite frankly am annoyed this has to happen -- a simple timer should not be acting up so early on -- not when it is priced as a minor mp3 player. Order well in advance, try using it and take replacement steps before your baby arrives.
