Works fine but does not like all cheap blank CD-R media
This one came preinstalled on my Systemax Venture PC. It works fine in Windows Vista and Ubuntu 8.04 Linux.
No drivers were necessary to be installed on Linux, but it failed on burn every time I tried to use "cheap" Staples Brand CD-R media for music CDs. It did not have a problem with Memorex brand CD-R media (which are also relatively inexpensive when on sale).
Burn speeds are fine for both CD-R and DVD-R. I don't use Lightscribe so I cannot comment on that.
It's a pretty good burner for the price and no major issues.
