From the Manufacturer
This is a reconditioned power tool. Reconditioned generally means that the tool has been returned to the manufacturer, who brings the tool back to like new conditions. Some tools may contain cosmetic blemishes. Skil proudly presents the new and innovative Power Wrench! The Skil Power Wrench makes hand wrenches, ratchets, and screwdrivers the thing of the past. Its close quarter design allows for fast tightening, loosening, and/or driving at the pull of a trigger. Lithium Ion power allows this tool to hold its charge up to 18 months! So it is ready to work when you are
Customer Reviews
Powerful enough
While this powered wrench isn't strong enough to break free rusted bolts and nuts, once they are lossened the wrench provides ample power to remove the fastener. Remember this is a 1/4" drive which is used for light fasteners. It would have been nice if Skil provided removable batteries so that one could be on charge while the other was being used.
Very pleasantly surprised
My hobby is working on cars and I'm always looking for tools to take the place of manpower. I had started searching around for a cordless ratchet because my air powered ones are too big, too bulky and too hard to get into tight places. I looked at really expensive ones and then someone suggested this little cheap Skil. For the price, decided it couldn't be all that bad. As it turns out, far from bad!
Don't think this is going to bust loose nuts or provide sufficient torque to properly tighten things down. But, it will make removing small bolts (10-12MM) a breeze and you can use it to final torque as it locks in position after being turned off.
What is most amazing is the battery life! I'm sold on lithium ion as the way to go with rechargeable tools, you just don't usually find them in ones this inexpensive. I can use this all day and it still has power at the end of the day and will sit stored without losing battery life.
I also don't normally buy reconditioned tools but since it was from Skil, it probably got more personal attention to being done right than one off teh assembly line. Huge bang for the buck!
Marginal Tool
I had high hopes for this, considering the litium-ion battery, but the torque is practically non-existent. If all you're using it for is to spin nuts onto long machine screws, you might have a use for it, but it is certainly lacking the the power department.
First time I used it, it jammed, would not power in either direction, and took some fiddling to break it loose.
